Dear Friends: Many of you have given generously to No More Victims in the past.  Dan Kovalik of Pittsburgh and Ashley Severance of Orlando have all medical arrangements in place for two children to receive extensive surgical and other medical treatment completely free of charge.  We are now raising funds for travel and accommodations.  Please visit the site and give what you can.  All donations are tax-deductible.  If you prefer to send a check by mail, address to the International Humanities Center/No More Victims, P.O. Box 923, Malibu, CA 90265

Sincerely,

Cole Miller

Two war-injured Iraqi children will soon travel to Pittsburgh and Orlando for medical treatment.

The children will receive treatment for injuries sustained in US attacks on Fallouja and Al Qaim. To see photographs of the children and learn about their medical needs and the facts regarding their injuries:

Information about other injured Iraqi children who need help has been posted at the site and will be updated frequently. To learn what you can do, visit www.nomorevictims.org.

Background

NMV was founded in September 2002. We work to find medical sponsorships for war-injured Iraqi children and to forge ties between the children, their families and communities in the United States. We believe one of the most effective means of combating militarism is to focus on direct relief to its victims. We are committed to developing information and strategies that empower local communities to engage in direct aid and advocacy.

Nomorevictims.org, in association with documentary photographer Alan Pogue, brought two Iraqi children to the United States for medical care -- Asra'a Amir Mizyad and Mostafa Salah. To view CNN coverage of Mostafa and his mother's visit to Los Angeles:

We now assist other communities in implementing medical relief projects of their own. After two years of US occupation, rudimentary medical supplies are unavailable in many parts of the country. Injured children are without access to clean water, pain medication, antibiotics and other medicines, or access to surgical procedures that can restore them to a modicum of health and well-being. You can make a major difference in these children's lives.

And we also work to connect communities with children whose injuries are beyond medical remedy. In some instances the children were injured by the unlawful use of cluster munitions in civilian neighborhoods, a practice the Pentagon says it never employs. By advocating for an individual child, you can help expose the ruthlessness of the Pentagon under Rumsfeld, and petition elected officials and others to provide compensation for the child's injuries.

We will also arrange for you to be in direct contact with the child and his or her family. You can learn first hand what the family has endured and develop your own ideas for action and assistance. We do not have to wait around for a government that is entirely unresponsive. We can take direct action ourselves.
